Conditions: The
publisher reserves the right to accept or reject any
advertising. Only publication of an advertisement
constitutes acceptance. Advertising must be appropriate
to the editorial focus of the SFJ as deemed so by the
publisher. All advertising copy must be clearly printed
or typed double-spaced. SFJ cannot be responsible for
errors caused by unclear or unreadable copy.
Failure by SFJ to publish an ad, for any reason, does not
subject SFJ to any liability whatsoever or otherwise give
cause for any other claim against SFJ. SFJ's liability
for any error or omission in a published ad will not
exceed the cost of the space occupied by the ad.
PAYMENT:
All ad orders must be accompanied by full payment unless
other arrangements are made. SFJ does not offer ad agency
commissions or discounts.CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING:

SFJ Subscriber Rate:
35 cents per word per issue (zip code is free). Count
name and address as words; phone number with area code
counts as one word.
Non-Subscriber Rate:
40 cents per word per issue (zip code is free). Count
name and address as words; phone number with area code
counts as one word. We do not send tear sheets with
classified insertions, please include $8.50 for a copy of
the Journal.
Bold Type:
To have your entire classified ad printed in bold type,
add $2.50 per ad and specify with order.
To Prepare A Classified Ad:
Use the form included on the brown mailing cover of this
issue or type double-spaced, using a separate sheet for
each ad.
EVENTS:
Free listings for not-for-profit club events, (i.e. plow
matches, meetings, shows, swap meets, auctions, etc.).
Free listings will be printed under the EVENTS heading in
the classifieds if they comply with the following
conditions:
1. The event must be open to the public.
2. State, town, date sponsor and location of your event
should be first information listed.
3. Listing must state sponsorship of event by non-profit
club, charitable group or organization.
4. Any admission charge must be stated.
5. Name, address and phone for further information must
be listed.
6. Notices should run 30 to 50 words.
7. SFJ reserves the right to reject or edit as deemed
necessary.
FARMER'S SEEDS:
Free listing for farmers advertising seed of their own
raising for sale or trade will be printed under this
heading in the classified section. To be eligible:
1. Please, ads from farmers only.
2. Must contain information about particular seeds
instead of generic listings. For example, "many
varieties of open pollinated corn available" would
not be eligible. "East Anglican blue popping
corn" would be eligible.
3. Should contain no more than 50 words.
4. No ads for catalogs or price lists for fees.
5. SFJ reserves the right to reject ads or suggest they
are better placed in a paid category.
SFJ makes this offer to assist and encourage farmers
who are preserving home plant strains. We want to
contribute to the preservation of plant (and animal)
diversity.
FARM DIRECTORY:
The cost is $12 per ad per issue. $40 per ad per year.
Six lines or less, Ad copy may include only: name of farm
or ranch - owner/operator name - farm produce and/or
livestock - address - phone. No bold type available. See
Example below.

FARMERS MARKETPLACE:
This is our high value low cost advertising section.
Anybody can afford to advertise in this section BUT
remember that first we must approve of the product or
service you advertise - and second - your ad must run
UNCHANGED for 4 consecutive issues.
Display classified section. Each ad must run a minimum of
four times with no changes.
Rates: One inch $72 per year (4 times). Two inches $125
per year (4 times). Three inches $185 per year (4 times).
No checking copy will be sent to advertiser.
DISPLAY ADS
Display ads are space ads. You buy a certain amount of
space. If you pay for a year's worth of that space you
get a discount. Bigger ads are not necessarily better. It
is what you want to sell and how you tell the story that
counts.
